Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), take on the Cleveland Monsters today at 10:00 a.m. PT. Today is the second of four meetings between the two clubs this season.
Reign Offense Arrives:
The Ontario Reign scored a season-high four goals yesterday vs. the Monsters in a 7-4 setback.
Sutter Closes In:
Forward and team captain Brett Sutter is one point away from 300 as a professional and six games from 800 in his pro career.
Special Teams Are Special:
The Reign registered two power-play goals last night vs. Cleveland, snapping an 0-for-19 stretch entering the contest. Forward Brett Sutter also scored the team's first shorthanded goal of the season.
Motte's Apple Sauce:
Monsters forward Tyler Motte registered a hat trick last night vs. Ontario.
Soupy for the Soul:
Goaltender Jack Campbell is expected to start this morning for the Reign per Head Coach Mike Stothers.
Hensick Homecoming:
Reign veteran forward T.J. Hensick skated with the Monsters from 2007-10 including his rookie campaign out of the University of Michigan. The Howell, Michigan, native skated in 120 games with the Monsters scoring 131 points (39 goals, 92 assists) and registered a career season in 2009-10 with 70 points (20 goals, 50 assists) in 58 games. He later tied that points mark with Peoria during the 2011-12 season.
Upcoming Milestones:
Head Coach Mike Stothers is two games from coaching his 300th contest as a professional.
