Rockford, Ill. -- The Milwaukee Admirals used a three-goal outburst in the third period to take a 5-2 victory over the Rockford IceHogs at the BMO Harris Bank Center Friday night. Trevor Smith, Bobby Butler, and Yakov Trenin tallied for the Ads in the final frame, and Anders Lindback made 24 saves to earn the win.
The IceHogs started the game with an offensive burst to take a 2-0 lead early in the first period. Tomas Jurco scored his second goal in as many games just 1:38 into the contest with a wraparound effort, and David Kampf followed up with his third of the year six minutes later.
Matheson Iacopelli earned an assist on each goal for his second multi-point performance of the season. Emil Pettersson found the back of the net with 1.2 seconds remaining in the period to put the Admirals on the board, and Trenin notched his first of the game 3:26 into the second stanza to tie the affair.
Milwaukee then lit the lamp on the power play almost halfway through the third to take a lead they would keep for the rest of the game. Two more goals, including one in an empty Rockford net, sealed the victory for the visitors.
J.F. Berube made 28 saves, but suffered his first loss with the IceHogs, giving up more than two goals for just the second time in his six starts.
Next Home Game: The Rockford IceHogs host the Grand Rapids Griffins Saturday, Oct. 28 at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Saturday is Geeks and Goblins night (presented by 97 ZOK), featuring a cosplay costume contest, 20+ vendor booths on display on the arena concourse and a postgame trick-or-treat with the IceHogs.
