Tribune Poll: Grizzlies Favorite Utah Pro Team

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL beat out every other Utah professional sports team in a recent online poll conducted by The Salt Lake Tribune asking fans who their favorite sports team was. The Grizzlies finished third overall behind BYU football (40.2 percent) and University of Utah football (35.5 percent).

As far as Utah professional teams were concerned, the Grizzlies collected 7.6 percent of the votes ahead of the Utah Jazz (7.0 percent). Rounding out the poll was Real Salt Lake of the MLS who collected 3.9 percent. The Arena Football League's Utah Blaze were the favorite among 3-percent of the voters and the PCL's Salt Lake Bees had .5 percent of the votes submitted. Also included in the poll were University of Utah gymnastics (1.7 percent) and Snow College baseball (.6 percent.)

The poll was on The Salt Lake Tribune's website from April 8 - April 14 and 4,557 votes were tallied.

The Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, just completed their second season in America's "Premier AA Hockey League." There were 23 former Utah Grizzlies players on NHL rosters at the start of the 2006-2007 season. The Grizzlies are owned and operated by the Elmore Sports Group and play at the E-Center of West Valley City, which hosted hockey during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
