
Westlund, Pikkarainen Return To Charlotte Lineup

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that goalie Alex Westlund and defenseman Hannu Pikkarainen have been reassigned to Charlotte from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. Goalie Chris Holt and forward Zdenek Bahensky were recalled to the Wolf Pack.
During the regular season, Westlund went 16-7-1 with a .914 save percentage and a 2.73 goals-against average. The 31-year-old from Flemington Village, N.J. recorded three shutouts in 25 games this season. Two seasons ago, Westlund helped lead to Checkers to the American Conference Finals against the Florida Everblades.
Pikkarainen skated in 10 games with the Checkers during the regular season. He recorded two goals, seven assists and 10 penalty minutes with a plus-minus rating of +1.
Holt, 21, has started all four of the Checkers playoff games with a 2-2 record. He finished the regular season 24-18-2 with a .898 save percentage and a 3.15 goals-against average. The native of Vancouver, British Columbia was a sixth-round selection by the New York Rangers (180th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Bahensky, 21, has skated in all four of the Checkers playoff games recording on assist and a plus-minus ratio of -1. During the regular season, the forward from Most, Czech Republic, skated in 58 games recording nine goals, 14 assists with 118 penalty minutes.
The Charlotte Checkers host the Florida Everblades tomorrow at 7:00 pm at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. The Everblades lead the best-of-five-game series 2-0, putting the Checkers in a must-win situation. If Game Four is necessary, the Checkers will host the Everblades at 7:00 pm Thursday at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
