Everblades Card heads back to AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Mike Card has been recalled to the Rochester Americans by the Buffalo Sabres.

Card returns to Rochester after skating in Florida's final six regular season games, during which he registered four points (1g, 3a) and was a plus-4 rating, and participating in the Everblades' first two Kelly Cup Playoff games vs. Charlotte, in which he tallied one goal and two assists. The 21-year-old heads back to Americans where he saw action in 50 games this season picking up nine points (1g, 8a) and 38 penalty minutes.

The former 8th round draft pick by the Buffalo Sabres in 2004 has also skated in four games with the Sabres this season, making his NHL debut on November 11 at Philadelphia. The Kitchener, Ontario native is in his rookie season, and spent the previous four years playing at the junior level with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League. In his four-year stint, Card amassed 147 points (35g, 112a) in 269 career games, and helped lead the Rockets to the WHL playoffs in each of his four years with the club, including helping the team earn the Memorial Cup Championship in 2003-04.

The Florida Everblades, proud affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers, return to the ice on Tuesday, April 17 when they travel to Charlotte for Game 3 of their best-of-five division semi-final at 7:05 p.m. from Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
