
Trading Cards and SpongeBob Coming This Weekend

Bakersfield, Calif â The Bakersfield Condors will wrap up a four-game home stand this weekend with a Friday night game against the Alaska Aces and a Saturday game against the Las Vegas Wranglers. Both games start at 7:00pm.
Friday's game is Team Trading Card Night for the first 3,000 fans through the turnstiles. Bright House Networks, Smooth Jazz 97.7 and Team Gear sponsor the card sets. Friday's game is also a T.H.I.N.K. Night. The T.H.I.N.K. program allows students to earn tickets to the game through exceptional performance in the classroom. 101.5 KGFM and ARRC Technology sponsor the T.H.I.N.K. program. It's also a Colonel Claw'd's Kids Club Night, in which all members of the kids club receive free admission. Bright House Networks, the Bakersfield Californian, Kern Schools Federal Credit Union and Cold Stone Creamery sponsor the kid's club.
In addition, there will be an artist painting at the top of section 101 during Friday's game in conjunction with The Arts Council of Kern being Organization of the Night. The ACK have secured one of their local artists-in-residence named Gita Lloyd. She is an internationally recognized artist based in Bakersfield who has worked for publishers such as Golden Books and Random House as well as for Hollywood productions. Prior to the game, new Bakersfield Blitz Head Coach Rick Van Horne will be dropping the ceremonial first puck.
Saturday's match against the Wranglers features the return of SpongeBob Squarepants to Centennial Garden. SpongeBob, along with Hey Arnold, appear courtesy of Bright House Networks, 101.5 KGFM and Bill Wright Toyota. The Wranglers are making their first regular season appearance at Centennial Garden. The Condors will be looking for a little good luck on home ice by inviting local favorite United States Marine Corporal Joe Cannon to sing the national anthem before the game. Cpl. Cannon has been a good luck charm for the Condors, as they have a record of 4-1-1 when he sings and a 15-2-3 record over the last two seasons.
Both games are Bright House Networks Family Nights, allowing subscribers to purchase terrace level tickets for just $5 a piece by presenting their coupon found in this month's cable bill. Both games can also be seen live on Bright House Networks Ch. 21, with the replay coming the following day at 10:00am.
"The Condors Coach's Show" can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 each and every Thursday night, live from the Holiday Inn Select from 6:00-7:00pm. Hosted by the Voice of the Condors Kevin Bartl, All-Star Andrew Ianiero and D Jani Virtanen will be the featured guests, as well as the regular visit from Head Coach Paul Kelly. The "Coach's Show" is the fans' chance to meet the players, enjoy drink specials at the Holiday Inn Select and win Condors prizes.
Individual seats are on sale now, and may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location.
