January 15, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that ECHL All-Star netminder Michael Garnett has been recalled to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
Drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the third round, #80 overall in the 2001 NHL entry draft, is currently sixth among ECHL netminders with a 2.27 goals against average and a .919 save percentage in 27 games for the Gladiators.
Named ITECH ECHL goaltender of the week for December 1st through 7th and December 22nd through 28th, Garnett becomes the fourth player called up to the Wolves this season.
Garnett saw relief action in two games last season for Chicago in February and was 0-1-0 during that stretch. Following his final junior season with the Saskatoon Blades, Garnett was called up to the Atlanta Thrashers and backed up Milan Hnilicka in Atlanta's regular season finale during the 2001-02 season.
Garnett should be available for the Wolves for their 7:30 p.m. match up on Friday night in Grand Rapids.
