Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that they have signed center Chris Gignac and forward Marco Charpentier.

The Head Coach of the Toledo Storm Nick Vitucci discussed the signings "Chris Gignac is a very good offensive player. He knows the Toledo Sports Arena as evident with the numbers he put up here in 99-00. He will add extra offensive punch and leadership to this hockey club. Charpentier has the speed and skill to put up big offensive numbers in this league over a season. Both players will fit in nicely."

Gignac appeared in 62 games with the Toledo Storm in two seasons from 1998-2000. In 99-00 Chris finished second on the team in scoring with 33 goals, 56 assists and 89 points over the course of 59 games. The native of Windsor, Ontario played for the University of Windsor before coming to Toledo late in the 1998-99 season. Gignac started this season with the Odessa Jackalopes of the Central Hockey League, where he registered 3 goals and 4 assists in 10 contests.

Charpentier split time the last 2 seasons with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. Marco picked up 75 points in 97 games with the Titans over the past two seasons.

Toledo is home against Dayton tomorrow night and plays 16 of their next 21 in the Toledo Sports Arena.
