SACRAMENTO -- Andrew Werner allowed one run in seven innings as the Sacramento River Cats continued to silence the bats of the Albuquerque Isotopes, winning the series finale, 3-2, on Friday night at Raley Field.

The Isotopes (63-51) were held to six runs and 23 hits during the four-game series. After winning the first game, the Topes lost the next three.

Oklahoma City won its eighth consecutive game, and the Topes fell out of first place. The Topes had occupied at least a share of first place for 20 of the last 22 days.

Sacramento (60-54) scored an unearned run in the first inning when Shane Peterson dropped a broken-bat single into right field, went to second when Michael Choice was hit by a 1-2 pitch, then scored on a throwing error by shortstop Dee Gordon. It was Gordon's 17th error of the season, and second in as many games

The River Cats added a run in the second on a David Freitas double, Ryan Ortiz single and Andy Parrino sacrifice fly. Topes starter Matt Palmer (6-5) wouldn't allow any additional runs. He struck out eight in six innings, walked two, allowed eight hits and threw a season-high 117 pitches.

In the fourth, Albuquerque manufactured a run as Chili Buss singled to right and stole his 18th base of the season. After an Alex Castellanos infield single, Buss scored on Brian Barden's RBI groundout to first.

Sacramento tacked on a crucial insurance run in the eighth inning off reliever Kelvin De La Cruz. Anthony Aliotti singled, went to second on walk, and scored on Parrino's double to right field.

Alex Castellanos led off the ninth with a double off River Cats closer Brian Gordon. Justin Sellers singled and Matt Angle hit a sacrifice fly to score Castellanos, trimming the lead to 3-1. Gordon got the final out as Rusty Ryal grounder into a fielder's choice to end the game. It was Gordon's 11th save of the year.

The Isotopes will bus to Fresno after the game and open a four-game series against the Grizzlies, the Giants affiliate, on Saturday. Former Giant Jonathan Sanchez will start for the Isotopes. Austin Fleet on the mound for Fresno. First pitch is at 8:05 pm Mountain Time and all the action can be heard on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
