Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, Calif. - Mitch Lively allowed one hit over six shutout innings to help lead the Fresno Grizzlies to a 3-1 win over the Round Rock Express on Friday and sweep the four-game series at Chukchansi Park.

Lively's only hit surrendered was to Manny Ramirez to lead off the second inning, but Lively allowed just two more base runners over his final five innings pitched. The right-hander earned his second straight win and improves to 5-4 on the season.

The sweep was the second for the Grizzlies this season. Fresno has swept the Express two years in a row after the Grizzlies took the four-game series at Round Rock in 2012.

The Grizzlies quickly supplied Lively with a lead when Gary Brown led off the game for Fresno with a double and was driven in by Francisco Peguero. Brown finished with a team-high three hits.

Ehire Adrianza drove in Carter Jurica with a single in the fifth inning to make it 2-0 Fresno. Adrianza added a double in the eighth inning for his second hit of the game. He was plated by Hector Sanchez in the eighth to give the Grizzlies a 3-1 advantage.

The Express scored their lone run in the seventh off Grizzlies reliever Mason Tobin when Chris McGuiness drove in Joey Butler. Peguero threw out Manny Ramirez at home prior to McGuiness' RBI base hit to keep Round Rock scoreless at the time.

George Kontos threw a perfect ninth inning to earn his second save of the season in a Grizzlies uniform.

Michael Kirkman, making a rehab start, took the loss for Round Rock after allowing two runs on seven hits over five innings.

Fresno will start a four-game series against the Albuquerque Isotopes, the Los Angeles Dodgers' affiliate, on Saturday at 7:05 pm. Right-hander Austin Fleet will take the mound for Fresno and face former Grizzlies hurler, left-hander Jonathan Sanchez.
