The Reno Aces and New Orleans Zephyrs played 11 innings without either team scoring a run on Saturday night, until a two-out error in the 12th allowed the Aces to finally break through and beat the Zephyrs, 2-0.

Reno loaded the bases against former Aces reliever Jonathan Albaladejo in the top of the 12th on back-to-back one-out singles by Ed Easley and Taylor Harbin and an intentional walk to Tony Campana . Alabadejo struck out Chris Owings, the Pacific Coast League's third-leading hitter, on three pitches for the second out of the inning.

Josh Wilson then came off the bench and sent a soft grounder to shortstop, but Nick Green allowed the ball to scoot under his glove for an error, scoring the game's first two runs.

The Zephyrs loaded the bases themselves in the bottom of the 12th, getting a pinch-hit double from Gil Velazquez, who then moved to third on a throwing error by right fielder Alfredo Marte . Kyle Jensen drew a walk, and after Green fouled out, Kyle Skipworth was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but Chaz Roe fanned Joe Mahoney for the final out.

The Z's managed just three hits through the first 10 innings against Reno starter Charles Brewer and two relievers. Their only time getting a runner into scoring position came in the fourth inning, when Bryan Petersen led off with a single and Kevin Kouzmanoff reached on an error. Both runners advanced on a one-out grounder, but were stranded when Green flied out to end the frame.

New Orleans received a strong effort from its bullpen after starting pitcher Doug Mathis was forced to leave the game after the first batter with an apparent leg injury. Campana led off with a grounder to first, and Mathis was slow to cover first base on the infield single, then was removed in favor of Rett Varner.

Campana got to third base with one out, but Varner got out of the inning unscathed, and finished by yielding two hits in four innings. Scott McGough followed with 2 1/3 scoreless innings, and James Leverton pitched in 2 2/3 frames to keep the game scoreless into extras.

Albaladejo (4-5) was charged with two unearned runs and four hits in three innings and took the loss. Eury De La Rosa (3-5) got the win by pitching two innings for the Aces.

The Zephyrs and Aces play the second game of the series on Sunday at 6 p.m.
