TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers dropped the club's series finale with the Omaha Storm Chasers 9-3 at Cheney Stadium on Friday night. The defeat sealed a four-game series sweep for Omaha over the Rainiers and stretched Tacoma's losing skid to a season-high seven games.

Omaha scored two unanswered runs in each of the game's first four innings on the way to taking a commanding 8-0 lead. A pair of two-run doubles over the first and second - one hit by Pedro Ciriaco and another by Christian Colon - led the Rainiers to an early 4-0 deficit.

Ciriaco struck again in the third, this time delivering a leadoff two-run home run to left field. Irving Falu hit a leadoff solo shot to right in the fourth that was complimented by a bases-loaded walk drawn by Manny Pina two outs later.

Tacoma's first appearance onto the scoreboard came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Second baseman Ty Kelly singled home Carlos Triunfel with one out. Franklin Gutierrez and Jesus Montero each drove in runs with RBI doubles in the ninth.

The Rainiers lineup collected a combined 11 hits, led by the first baseman Montero's 3-for-5 effort. Gutierrez, Kelly, Nate Tenbrink and Jason Jaramillo each turned in two hits. Kelly has now hit safely in each of his last seven games.

Starter Andrew Carraway (6-5) was dealt the loss after surrendering eight runs on eight hits over 3.2 innings. The right-hander struck out two and walked five in his 16th start for the Rainiers this season.

The Rainiers (60-54) welcome the Iowa Cubs to Cheney Stadium for a four-game series beginning tomorrow, August 3rd. Right-hander Hector Noesi (2-1, 7.20) is scheduled to start for Tacoma in the series opener against I-Cubs left-hander Brooks Raley (6-7, 4.70). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
