Nashville wins over Tucson

The Nashville Sounds put together a four-run eighth inning to defeat the Tucson Padres 10-6 Saturday at Greer Stadium. The Padres have lost four of five games on the current road trip, but remain two games back of first place in the Pacific Southern Division.

Tucson struck for three runs in the opening inning behind Gregorio Petit's two-run single and a Nashville fielding error. Dean Anna and Nashville's Blake Lalli both hit their ninth home runs of the season in the second, keeping Tucson's lead at three runs. Robinzon Diaz launched a two-run home run in the fourth to cut the Padres' advantage to one.

Tucson got one run back in the fifth on a fielder's choice by Petit, his third RBI of the game. Hainley Statia hit the Sounds third home run of the game in the bottom of the fifth in a two-run inning for Nashville to tie the score at five. Josh Prince put the Sounds ahead 6-5 in the sixth with an RBI single to center. Mike Wilson's two-out RBI single in the seventh knotted the score at six. The Sounds scored fours runs in the bottom of the eighth on four hits and an error by Anna.

Sounds reliever Tim Dillard earned his second win, while Kevin Quackenbush was charged with his second loss. Nashville starter Aaron Laffey went six innings, allowing six hits, five runs and two walks. Jason Lane surrendered five runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings in his third start with Tucson. Anna compiled his third four-hit game of the season, finishing a triple short of the cycle.
