NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Reno Aces prevailed 2-0 in a 12-inning pitchers' duel over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Saturday night in the series opener at Zephyr Field.

The win snapped an eight-game road losing streak for the Aces, and gave Reno just their second extra innings victory of the season.

For the first time in team history, the Aces entered an extra innings contest with a 0-0 score. A run did not cross the plate until the top of the twelfth, when Ed Easley and Taylor Harbin scored on a ball misplayed by New Orleans shortstop Nick Green with two outs in the inning.

The Zephyrs had the winning run at the plate with two outs in the ninth, when Reno Reliever Chaz Roe hit Kyle Skipworth with a pitch to load the bases. Roe got Joe Mahoney to strike out, ending the threat and handing Reno their first win of the road trip.

Reno starter Charles Brewer was excellent, allowing just two hits and striking out six across the first 6.0 innings of the game. Four Aces relievers combined to give up just three hits, while striking out five, to keep the shutout intact.

Lefty Eury De La Rosa earned the win for his effort, and Roe was credited with his seventh win of the season.

The series continues Sunday night at Zephyr Field. RHP Nate Adcock (5-5, 7.35 ERA) gets the start for Reno, while the Zephyrs will counter with LHP Brad Hand (2-3, 2.85 ERA). First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. PT, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.

Reno returns home on Thursday, Aug. 8, for an eight-game homestand. Tickets are available for all remaining Aces home games at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
