
Top Prospect Harper to Face R-Phils

(Reading, PA) - Highly-touted prospect Bryce Harper - the number one overall pick in the 2010 draft by the Washington Nationals, is set to make his Baseballtown debut, as the Harrisburg Senators (Double-A affiliate of the Nationals) travel to FirstEnergy Stadium for a three-game series with the R-Phils from Tuesday, August 2 - Thursday, August 4.
Tickets for all three games on the upcoming homestand are available, and fans can call 610-370-BALL, log-on to www.readingphillies.com, or stop by the brand-new R-Phils ticket office located at FirstEnergy Stadium to purchase tickets.
Harper, 18, began the season with the Hagerstown Suns (A), and hit an impressive .318 with 14 home runs and 46 RBIs in 72 games. He ranked among the league leaders in batting average, on-base percentage, home runs, RBIs, and stolen bases, and earned a promotion to Harrisburg on July 4th.
Currently, Harper is hitting .250 (16-64) with three doubles, a home run, and four RBIs through 19 games with the Senators. The 6'3" slugger has a hit in six of his last eight games, and hit his first Double-A home run on Wednesday, July 27.
A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Harper participated in the Arizona Fall League in 2010, and hit .343. He helped lead the Scottsdale Scorpions to the 2010 Arizona Fall League championship. In February of 2011, Baseball America revealed their Top 100 Prospects of baseball, and Harper was ranked as number one on the list.
The upcoming three-game homestand also features some of the year's best promotions. On Tuesday, August 2, the first 3,000 adults will receive a Carlos Ruiz Bobble Head with "Chooching" Owl, thanks to FirstEnergy. On Wednesday, August 3, the Phillie Phanatic will be on-hand to entertain fans, thanks to Pace Institute. The R-Phils will also pay a special Tribute to the Phillie Phanatic on Wednesday, thanks to Comcast SportsNet. In the finale on Thursday, August 4, WWE Hall-of-Famer Sunny will meet and greet fans, as part of the R-Phils special Tribute to Professional Wrestling Night, courtesy of Rock Hits Y102.
