Tim Pahuta singled in Chris Rahl at 1:08 a.m. on Friday morning, July 29th to make the Senators 2-1 winners over the Binghamton Mets in 14 innings. The game took 4:14 and had a 1:54 delay to start, causing the ballgame to last until after 1 a.m. in the morning. The Senators improve to 60-46 with the win while the B-Mets fall to 42-64 with the loss.

The two teams combined to throw 382 pitches, 35 strikeouts, just four walks, and only 15 hits. There were a total of 95 at bats in the ballgame with a total of 100 total plate appearances.

Binghamton took a 1-0 lead in the seventh on a home run by Juan Lagares, his first with the B-Mets. The Senators came right back in the bottom of the seventh when Chris Rahl singled in Derek Norris. The game continued on through extra innings and the Senators had the first big chance to score. They loaded the bases with one out in the 11th inning, but couldn't push across the winning run. Binghamton had a leadoff double off the bat of Raul Reyes in the 13th, but he was left stranded at third base.

Erik Arnesen started for the Senators and pitched eight innings, allowing just one run on three hits. He was followed by Cory VanAllen (2ip 1h 2k), Pat Lehman (2ip 1h 3k) and then winning pitcher Carlos Martinez who pitched the final two innings for the win.

Matt Harvey started for Binghamton and pitched seven strong innings striking out 10 and allowing just four hits and a run. Rhiner Cruz was the tough luck loser.

The winning rally was set up by Rahl as he tripled with two outs. Pahuta then worked the count to 3-1 before driving a single to left field to score Rahl and set off an early morning celebration. The game was the longest inning game this season for the Senators and the longest timed game as well.

Game two of the series is later today at 7:00 p.m. with RH Shairon Martis on the mound for the Senators against RH Brandon Moore for the B-Mets. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
