(Akron, OH) - Manny Banuelos dominated the Akron Aeros (54-51) in his six and a third innings, and Addison Maruszak drove in two more runs to lead the Trenton Thunder (56-48) to a 5-1 win on Wednesday night at Canal Park. The victory, which completes a three-game sweep over the Aeros, gives the Thunder their fourth straight win and a winning record on the seven-game road trip to Bowie and Akron. Rob Lyerly also had three hits for the Thunder, who close the gap with first place New Hampshire in the Eastern League's Eastern Division to just one game.

All of the Thunder offense on Wednesday night came in three straight frames in the middle third of the ballgame. Rob Lyerly and Corban Joseph both knocked RBI-singles in the fourth and fifth, respectively. Then, in the sixth, Jose Pirela drove in his 39th run of the season with an RBI-double. One batter later, Addison Maruszak laced a single through the middle to score two and give Trenton a 5-0 lead.

Those five runs were more than enough for Manny Banuelos, who dominated the Aeros to the tune of just one run on five hits in a season-high six and a third innings. The lone run that the 20-year-old lefty surrendered was a solo homerun to Kyle Bellows to lead off the seventh inning. The win for Banuelos breaks a streak of four straight losses for the lefty.

Riding a four-game winning streak, the Thunder welcome the Richmond Flying Squirrels to Trenton on Thursday night at 7:05 PM for the first of a four-game set. The Thunder will give the pearl to RHP Dellin Betances (4-4, 3.20), while the Squirrels will counter with LHP Chuck Lofgren (1-0, 1.59). The SBLI Pre-Game Show with Jay Burnham and Hank Fuerst begins at 6:45 PM. Tune-in to the game on 91.3 WTSR and online at trentonthunder.com.

The Thunder will celebrate Jewish Heritage Night on Thursday night at Waterfront Park. Postgame Fireworks presented by Capital Health will also follow the Thunder's contest with the Flying Squirrels.
