Indianapolis Indians News Release

TOLEDO, OHIO - Grayson Greiner and Pete Kozma combined to knock in five runs as the Toledo Mud Hens used two big innings to beat the Indianapolis Indians on Thursday night, 9-1. It was the first of a four-game series between the top two teams in the International League's West Division, and the loss moved the Hens back to 2.5 games behind the Tribe.

After an easy bottom of the first inning, Indians starter Mitch Keller (0-2) ran into trouble in the second inning. He issued back-to-back walks after a single to load the bases with no outs. A sacrifice fly and a single followed to put Toledo (57-52) on the board. The inning was capped by Kozma, as he clubbed a double to center field to plate the frame's final two runs.

Keller would settle in for Indianapolis (60-50) and throw six innings. He did not allow a run outside of the second inning and struck out six opposing batters.

He would give way to Michael Feliz, but the Hens scored five runs in the inning. Dawel Lugo and Jason Krizan each knocked in one with back-to-back hits, but Greiner provided the big swing with a three-run homer to left field.

The Tribe offense scored its lone run of the game in the eighth. Jason Martin doubled home Pablo Reyes to prevent the shutout.

Jacob Turner (2-4) made big pitches when he had to for Toledo and earned the win after firing seven innings. He allowed five hits and fanned five.

The pivotal road trip continues tomorrow night in Toledo, first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. The Indians return home on Tuesday, August 7.
