Pigs Take Four of Five in Buffalo
August 2, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
A four-run top of the seventh lifted the Pigs to the 6-4 win in Buffalo. Lehigh Valley is now 26 games above .500 and recorded their 14 win of the year against Buffalo and finished 2018 6-1 at Coca-Coal Field.
Dean Anna moved within two games of Scott Kingery's franchise record 23 game hitting streak with a pair of hits in the ball game. Anna was one of three hits to record multiple hits in the ball game.
With the Pigs trailing 2-0 in the game, Ryan Goins tied things up with his second home run in an IronPigs uniform to make it 2-2 against the Pigs old friend Jacob Waguespack (3-6) who was making his first start since being traded on July 31st.
In the seventh Waguespack was lifted after recording one out in the inning and the Pigs struck for four runs against Connor Fisk. Joey Meneses broke the tie with a bases loaded walk to make it a 3-2 game. Two batters later, Adron Chambers cleared the bases with a three-run double to make it 6-2.
The Bisons got two runs back on back-to-back home runs off of Tyler Gilbert in the seventh. Gilbert was in relief of Drew Anderson (8-3) who allowed just two runs of six-innings of work and striking out four.
Hector Neris earned his fifth hold of the year, striking out one in his scoreless inning of relief. Neris has now gone five consecutive without allowing a run and has surrendered just one hit during that time. Pedro Beato (28) recorded his IL leading 28th save of the year, striking out two in the bottom of the ninth to close out the win.
The IronPigs return home Friday night for a three game series against the Syracuse Chiefs. Enyel De Los Santos takes the ball in game one beginning at 7:05. Stick around after the game on Friday for Aerosmith Fireworks presented by Coors Light.
