
TinCaps Walk Off With Another vs. Dayton

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - For the second straight night, the Fort Wayne TinCaps picked up a walk-off win over the Dayton Dragons. This time, Rymer Liriano drove in the game-winner in the 9th as Fort Wayne took it, 5-4.
It was another nip-and-tuck battle as neither team led by more than one run the entire game. The TinCaps pounded out 15 hits. Everett Williams had three hits including a triple, Jeudy Valdez doubled and homered and Griffin Benedict went 3-for-4.
Williams tripled in the bottom of the 1st and scored on Liriano's sacrifice fly.
Dayton tied it in the top of the 3rd when former Indiana Hoosier Andrew Means singled home Henry Rodriguez.
In the 5th, DiDi Gregorius smacked a leadoff home run to put Dayton ahead 2-1, but TinCaps LHP Mike Watt pitched out of a bases-loaded jam to keep it there.
A pair of TinCaps solo homers tied and then gave Fort Wayne the lead. Valdez drilled his in the bottom of the 5th and Nate Freiman drove a round-tripper to straight-away center field to put the TinCaps up, 3-2.
Dayton tied the game in the top of the 7th on a sac fly by Kevin Coddington, but Benedict's twoout RBI single in the 8th gave Fort Wayne the lead again, 4-3.
In the top of the 9th, Means reached on a leadoff infield single, stole second and later scored on Chris Richburg's game-tying single.
That set the stage for more TinCaps heroics. Valdez drew a leadoff four-pitch walk and Williams beat out a bunt. Then, Liriano drove a ball to the gap in left-center to plate Valdez with the winning run.
TinCaps RHP Hayden Beard (1-0) picked up the win despite blowing a save. Dayton LHP Ezequiel Infante (1-1) allowed the winning run to absorb the loss.
Fort Wayne tied Dayton in the standings at 5-3.
The TinCaps try to complete the three-game sweep of the Dragons (Class-A Cincinnati Reds) Friday at Parkview Field at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne RHP Dexter Carter (0-1) goes to the mound against Dayton RHP J.C. Sulbaran (0-0).
