April 15, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The River Bandits got the offense cranked up early and didn't stop on Thursday night in Clinton as they secured a series win and their sixth straight victory with a 16-6 win over their division foes the Clinton LumberKings.
The Bandits put up two runs early on a two-run homer by Niko Vasquez in the first inning. Quad Cities never looked back. Already leading 3-0, the River Bandits hung a six spot in the third highlighted by a two-run homer by Devin Shepherd. The Bandits right fielder finished the night 4-for-5 with five RBI. Matt Adams and Robert Stock contributed with three hits apiece on the night while the top three hitters in the lineup D'Marcus Ingram, Jason Stidham and Vasquez all had a pair of RBI.
On the mound, Jorge Rondon started for Quad Cities and he allowed two runs on four hits over four innings but didn't qualify for the win. Michael Blazek pitched three innings in relief and allowed three runs on four hits and picked up the win (1-0). Tyler Bladford (0-1) lasted only two innings and allowed eight runs, five earned, and suffered the loss for Clinton.
The 16 runs plated by the River Bandits is the most since scoring 17 runs in the second game of a doubleheader against Wisconsin last April. The Bandits also set a new season high by pounding out 17 hits in the win.
Quad Cities will try to make it seven consecutive wins and their second series sweep on Friday night when they send right hander Shelby Miller (0-0) to the mound against lefty Jon Hesketh (0-1). First pitch is schedule for 6:30 p.m. at Alliant Energy Field in Clinton, IA.
