ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps piled up six extra-base hits but fell to Lansing, 8-5. Michael Gettys and Franchy Cordero homered, and Franmil Reyes ripped a double and a triple. The Lugnuts used a four-run first inning to jump out early and never relinquished the lead.
GOING DEEP: When Gettys and Cordero homered Thursday night, it became the second time this season Fort Wayne recorded a multi-home run game. On April 20th, Nick Torres, Edwin Moreno and Trae Santos all went yard against West Michigan on the road.
ROCKET ARM: Catcher Jose Ruiz has the most dangerous arm in the Midwest League. He's thrown out a league-leading 18 runners. On Thursday, he threw out Lugnuts 3B Gunnar Heidt attempting to steal 2nd base. Ruiz and Miguel Del Castillo have gunned down a league-leading 20 runners.
ROUNDING FIRST BASE: The TinCaps smacked six more extra-base hits on Thursday. They lead the league in doubles (52), and are second in total extra-base hits (73) behind Quad Cities.
PRIOR WARNING: Padres Minor League Pitching Coordinator Mark Prior is currently with the TinCaps. Prior joined San Diego's front office in December 2013 as a baseball operations assistant and is in his first season in his present role. The San Diego native pitched for the Cubs from 2002-06, posting a 42-29 record with a 3.51 ERA.
