Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 8, 2015) - The views of Modern Woodmen Park are among the most picturesque in all of baseball, and in a new online contest that will decide the "Best Seat in the House" across all of Minor League Baseball, fans can cast their vote at riverbandits.com for the R.I.A. Federal Credit Union Hon. Lane Evans Patriot Seats at Modern Woodmen Park.
Named in honor of the late 12-term Congressman from Illinois' 17th District, Lane Evans - a veteran who was an outstanding advocate for all veterans - are three seats and two wheelchair spaces at the top of Section 5. These seats are reserved for disabled veterans and their families, and the River Bandits partner with the Rock Island Arsenal to choose a deserving family for each home game. Fans seated here can see the Ferris wheel and Mississippi River beyond center field. This season, a new granite countertop was put in front of the wheelchair space of the Patriot Seats location.
"The Lane Evans Patriots Seats were added to recognize the many people who bravely serve our nation and families, as well as the contribution of the great Lane Evans to the Quad Cities region and our country," said River Bandits owner Dave Heller. "We encourage our fans and those across the country to vote on riverbandits.com for the R.I.A. Federal Credit Union Honorable Lane Evans Patriots Seats."
In recent seasons, fans across the baseball world have recognized the River Bandits and Modern Woodmen Park. The ballpark was voted the Best Minor League Ballpark in a fan vote by USA TODAY and 10Best.com, the River Bandits' home cap was voted the best in all of Class-A baseball, and the team's name was voted as one of the top eight in all of Minor League Baseball in a Sporting News contest.
Voting for the "Best Seat in the House" will end on Thursday, May 21, and the winner will be announced on that date. There is no limit on the number of votes cast per day.
Fan Submission Contest
As an added element to the contest on MiLB.com, fans will be able to enter a "Best Seat in the House" Fan Contest by tweeting or posting to Instagram a photo from their seat location from May 7-13. Fans should tweet @MiLB and include the hashtag "#MiLBBestSeat". MiLB.com staff will pick the top 10 fan-submitted photos on May 14 and assign a custom hashtag to each.
The 10 fans selected will be able to gather votes for their photo by having friends, fans, and others in their social networks tweet their unique hashtag or use that hashtag in an Instagram comment or post. Voting for the best fan photo will also end on May 21.
The fan with the most votes will win a 2015 subscription to MiLB.TV and four tickets to a Minor League game. We will also randomly select three fans that vote via Twitter or Instagram and award MiLB.TV subscriptions.
