ON THE ROAD: The TinCaps are in the midst of their longest road trip of the season. Last week Fort Wayne played 2 at Wisconsin and 3 at Beloit. After having Mother's Day off, they'll play 3 here in Lake County before finally returning to action at Parkview Field on Thursday for an 8-game homestand. The 'Caps split their 2 against the Rattlers and took 2/3 from the Snappers.

ALUMNI REPORT: 2016 TinCaps catcher Austin Allen was called up by the Padres on Saturday. After making his MLB debut that night as a pinch-hitter, Allen started on Sunday and got his first big-league hit. He's the 181st former Fort Wayne player to go from the 260 to The Show.

CLASSIC MEMORIES: The TinCaps opened their 2018 season here at Classic Park. Nick Margevicius, a native of nearby North Royalton, Ohio, got the start. Margevicius, who also pitched here in high school for Saint Ignatius, made the Padres' big-league rotation this season.

X FACTOR: Infielder Xavier Edwards leads the Midwest League in Batting Average (.361), is tied for the highest OBP (.432), and is tied for 2nd in the league in Stolen Bases (11). Edwards also has the 3rd lowest strikeout rate in the MWL (8%) and has the lowest swinging strike rate (2%) in the league. His 1.40 BB/K ratio is 3rd best.

MWL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Last Monday the Midwest League announced that infielder Tucupita Marcano was the MWL Player of the Week for April 29-May 5.In 6 games that week, Marcano slashed .538/.586/.654 as he went 14-for-26 with two walks, a hit by pitch, a double, a triple, 3 RBIs, and a stolen base. Marcano had a 16-game on-base and 10-game hitting streak (the longest such streaks among TinCaps this season) end on Saturday in Beloit.

LITTLE STREAK: After an 0-for-22 drought, outfielder Grant Little has hit safely in 6 consecutive games, going 7-for-20 (.350) with 5 walks & an RBI.

RUIZ RIPPING IT: Outfielder Agustin Ruiz is tied for 4th in the MWL in both RBIs (23) & Doubles (10). Ruiz has a 31% Line Drive % on Batted Balls - highest in the Midwest League.

POWER OUTAGE: The TinCaps rank tied for 13th out of 16 MWL teams for home runs with 11. Fort Wayne has hit only 1 homer over its last 14 games - a Dwanya Williams-Sutton blast at Beloit on Thursday.

HUNTING HITS: Blake Hunt has the 16th lowest K% in the MWL (15%), but also the 12th lowest BABIP (.231).

SOLO SHOT: Since returning from the Injured List on May 4, infielder Lee Solomon is 7-for-22 (.318) with 3 walks (.400 OBP) with 7 RBIs in 6 games.

WALK & RUN: Outfielder Jawuan Harris has walked in 18% of his plate appearances this season. That's the 4th highest BB% in the MWL (and a jump from 14% for him last year as a rookie). Harris is also tied for 11th in Runs (19).

ENOUGH ALREADY: Last Wednesday's washout in Wisconsin was the 1st cancelled game of the year for the TinCaps since they aren't scheduled to see the Rattlers again. But the 'Caps have had 3 other games postponed by rain plus 1 suspended by rain. The average first pitch temperature for a TinCaps game this season is 59 degrees. Tonight's forecast calls for a "high" of 47 degrees with clouds.
