
Timbers Set to Travel to Costa Rica for 2020 Preseason

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers today announced details for the club's preseason trip to San José, Costa Rica, for preseason training, presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky. The team will play three exhibition matches against Costa Rican Primera División sides, before returning to Portland to start preparations for their 2020 preseason tournament at Providence Park.
After beginning preseason training camp on Monday, Jan. 20, the Timbers will train in Portland through Jan. 27, when they depart for Costa Rica to begin a 14-day training camp at Complejo Deportivo Fedefutbol Plycem, home of the Costa Rica Football Federation. While in San José, Portland will face Deportivo Saprissa on Saturday, Feb. 1, Municipal Grecia on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and will close out their stay in Costa Rica with a contest against C.S. Herediano on Sunday, Feb. 9.
The Timbers will return to Portland on Monday, Feb. 10 to resume preseason training and begin preparations for their 2020 preseason tournament at Providence Park, in which they will square off against Cascadia-rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Minnesota United FC and the New England Revolution.
Celebrating their 10th anniversary in MLS, the Timbers will play host to Minnesota United FC at Providence Park in the club's 2020 season opener on Sunday, March 1 at 4:30 p.m. (Pacific).
