
Timber Rattlers Walk-Off against Captains in 12 Innings

(Appleton, WI) -Michael Reed hit his first homerun of the season and it came in Walk-Off style as the Timber Rattlers (10-12) defeated the Captains (12-10) in twelve innings, by a final of 6-4. The two-run blast was the third walk-off loss of this road trip (four games) for the Captains. Lake County has yet to score a run in extra innings this season and now fall to 0-6 in extra frames.
Lake County got out to the quick 2-0 lead in the first inning on five base hits. In the bottom of the first, Wisconsin tied the ballgame at 2-2. In the inning, The Rattlers got a run on an RBI Double play and an error.
Wisconsin took the 3-2 lead in the second inning after Max Walla doubled and Chris McFarland tripled him home. The lead was increased in the third inning when Vince Roache hit his ninth homerun of the season over the left field wall. The solo blast made the score 4-2 Timber Rattlers.
Lake County tied the ballgame in the top of the fourth inning. Anthony Santander singled, and Todd Hankins reached base on a fielders choice to put two runners on with two outs. Dorssys Paulino hit his second double of the night to left field and both runners scored to even the score at 4-4.
RHP Jake Sisco (4-6) started the ballgame for the Captains and did not factor in the decision. Sisco pitched six innings and allowed seven hits. Jake yielded four runs, but three were earned. Sisco walked one and struck out two. Cody Penny pitched two and two thirds of one hit scoreless baseball. Penny struck out two. Grant Sides pitched two and one third innings and allowed just one hit as well but Grant fanned three. Jack Wagoner (2-3) took the loss after pitching to two batters in the bottom of the 12th. Wagoner walked one and then surrendered the game winning homer to Michael Reed.
RHP Tyler Wagner (7-7) got the starting nod for Wisconsin and did not get the decision. Wagner pitched eight innings and allowed four earned runs on eleven hits. He walked one and struck out eight. Rodolfo Fernandez (2-3) earned the win after pitching four innings of one hit shutout baseball in relief. Fernandez walked just one and struck out eight by himself.
Lake County will remain on the road on Sunday, and remain in Appleton, WI to take on the 2012 Mid West League Champion Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in game two of a three game series. Lake County will start RHP Robbie Aviles (3-3, 4.05) and the Rattlers will counter with RHP Jorge Lopez (4-6, 5.37). First Pitch will be at 2:05 PM from Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin.
