This season, Minor League Baseball (MiLB) named DeVry University as the "Official Education and Career Development Partner of Minor League Baseball." This summer, MiLB and DeVry University are recognizing outstanding undergraduate and graduate students from the university who demonstrate citizenship, personal and academic leadership, and dedication to their fields of study as the "Student of the Month."

Owen Windes from the DeVry University campus in Chesapeake, Virginia, is one of 25 students nationwide to receive this honor. Windes will be honored Saturday, Aug. 22, at the game against the Toledo Mud Hens.

Windes is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in technical management from the university's College of Business & Management. A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, Windes has a strong commitment to both his education and to serving the DeVry community on campus. He is president of the Student Veteran Association, works on campus as a student worker and is currently on the Dean's List. When he isn't pursuing his academics or helping to serve his fellow veterans and students, Windes competes in full and half marathons. His next race is the Virginia Beach Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in September.

"We are honored to help DeVry University celebrate some of its best and brightest students," said Joe Gregory, General Manager of the Norfolk Tides. "As a community partner, we welcome the opportunity to provide Owen with a special ballpark experience and recognize him for his accomplishments."
