Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will begin a three-game set with the Pawtucket Red Sox on Friday night at McCoy Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Pigs enter play at 55-70 on the year after splitting a two-game, rain-shortened series with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Pawtucket enters at 48-78 after dropping two of three against Syracuse earlier this week.

LHP Jesse Biddle (2-3, 5.91) gets the ball for the Pigs in the series opener. The Philadelphia native was tagged with the loss on August 13 at Syracuse after allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits while walking three and fanning three over 3.2 IP. Over his last 3 GS, Biddle is 0-3 with an 8.40 ERA. The southpaw got a no-decision in his Triple-A debut against the PawSox on July 8 at Coca-Cola Park when he gave up seven runs on five hits to go along with six walks and a strikeout in 2.1 IP.

RHP Rick Porcello (5-11, 5.81 w/ BOS) will make a rehab start for Pawtucket on Friday night. Tonight will mark Porcello's second rehab start after he allowed three hits over 3.2 shutout innings for Lowell (SS-A) on Saturday. The right-hander's last outing with Boston came on July 29 vs. the White Sox when he surrendered six runs (five earned) on 10 hits while walking one and fanning two in two plus innings of work and was dealt the loss.

Pigs OF Jordan Danks has now hit safely in his last seven games. Over that span, Danks is hitting .346-1-5 with three doubles and four runs scored.
