Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ): Trenton Councilman Jim Coston today announced a partnership between the Trenton Thunder and the South Ward community as part of the Love Where You Live program.

The partnership further enhances pride in place and pride in self by illustrating the love South Trentonians have for their communities and the devotion of one of South Trenton's anchor organizations.

The Trenton Thunder have provided almost 200 tickets for their June 13 afternoon game against the Binghamton Mets to go to participants of the April 24-25 Love Where You Live cleanup. This includes students from Grace Dunn Middle School and Mott School. Thunder staff members also participated in the April cleanups in South Trenton.

"The Trenton Thunder are a vital part of this community. I appreciate and applaud them for allowing our community leaders and young people to display in a public forum civic pride and pride in themselves," Coston said.

"Being able to reward all the volunteers with the chance to attend a baseball game right in their own backyard made perfect sense," said Thunder General Manager Will Smith. "Councilman Coston has worked very hard to instill a renewed sense of pride in local residents and we are happy to be a part of that effort. Trenton is our city and we are proud to help our neighbors, and the Love Where You Live Program, in any way we can."

All Trenton Thunder tickets, including the 2009 Eastern League All-Star Game to be played in Trenton on July 15, are on sale now at www.trentonthunder.com and by calling 609-394-3300.

The Thunder have announced that all kids will eat for free at Waterfront Park all season long. All children with a ticket, ages 12 and under, will receive a voucher upon entering the ballpark good for a free hot dog, bag of potato chips, and a 12 oz. fountain soda at all 71 Thunder home games this season.

The Thunder are the only team in Minor League Baseball history at the Double A Level or below to draw over 400,000 fans for 14 consecutive seasons and have drawn over 6 million in attendance in its 15-year history.
