Local Baseball Standout RHP Pat Egan at New Britain Stadium This Weekend

June 11, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - Pat Egan, the Rocky Hill native who was recently promoted to Double-A Bowie - the Eastern League affiliate of the American League's Baltimore Orioles - will be coming home to Connecticut this weekend. The 6'8"/225-pound right-handed Pitcher who starred at both Rocky Hill High School and Quinnipiac University, is scheduled to start on Saturday night when the Rock Cats entertain the Baysox - at 6:35 PM at New Britain Stadium.

The 24-year-old Egan signed with the Baltimore organization in 2007 after an outstanding career at Quinnipiac University. He won 20 games as a Bobcat and was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2004.

Now in his third pro season, Egan has progressed quickly through the Orioles' farm system, with Bowie being his third promotion. He has thus far been impressive at the Double-A classification, appearing in three games with 1 Win, 11 Strike Outs, just 2 BBs and an ERA of 2.08.

In what looks to be a terrific match-up on Saturday night, the Rock Cats are scheduled to send out a promising hurler of their own - 22-year-old Carlos Gutierrez - the Minnesota Twins' 1st Round selection in 2008 out of the University of Miami.

Fans looking to secure tickets for this contest may do so by either visiting the Box Office at New Britain Stadium, calling the Rock Cats Ticket Office at (860) 224-8383, or for the convenience of on-line purchasing, visiting the club's website at www.rockcats.com.
