Wichita, KS (Nov. 11th) - Alexis Loiseau and Mitch Holmberg scored twice to help the Thunder slow down the Tulsa Oilers on Friday night in a 5-3 win at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Loiseau and Holmberg finished with three points and Scott Greenham earned his third win of the season.
Wichita got on the board first as Holmberg gathered a drop pass from Trecapelli and put a wrist shot below the blocker of Jamie Phillips to make it 1-0. Tulsa tied the game a little over a minute later as Adam Pleskach put home his own rebound with a baseball swing, picking the puck out of the air.
In the second, Holmberg scored once again as he got to a rebound at the blocker-side post and lifted a backhand past Phillips to make it 2-1.
Loiseau extended the lead to 3-1 at 8:04 of the third with a wrist shot from the right circle. Trecapelli made it 4-1 at 13:44, getting a nice pass from Holmberg in the slot and lifted it past Phillips. Tulsa scored two quick shorthanded goals late in the frame as Pleskach and Bates cut the lead to one. At 18:29, Loiseau recorded his second of the game and re-gained a two-goal advantage at 5-3. Tulsa pulled Phillips to try to get back into it, but the Thunder held on and evened up the StoneWolf Casino Cup series at one.
Loiseau and Holmberg both tallied two goals and an assist. Trecapelli had a goal and an assist, recording his first goal and points of the season. Greenham claimed the victory, stopping 38 of 41 shots. Phillips suffered his first loss of the season, stopping 40 of 45 shots he faced.
Wichita went 1-for-4 on the power play. Tulsa was o-for-4 on the man advantage.
The two teams will play again tomorrow night at the BOK Center starting at 7:05 p.m.
