Idaho Steelheads News Release

Steel Reel The Steelheads weren't able to slow down the Thunder in the series opener on Wednesday, but will look to bounce back on Friday on the first night of Military Appreciation Weekend at CenturyLink Arena. The Steelheads have not lost consecutive games in regulation since the first two games of the season, while the Thunder haven't lost at all on the road this year.

Idaho logged multiple power play goals for the first time this season on Wednesday, doing so against the third ranked penalty kill in the league. Yet the Thunder netted two goals in each period en route to a 6-3 win. Travis Ewanyk, Joe Basaraba, and Travis Walsh scored goals for Idaho. Walsh's goal was the first of his pro career.

Boss Bump... Joe Basaraba is finding his offensive touch following his shootout winner on Friday night in Colorado. The second-year Steelhead has goals in two straight games for the Steelheads. Basaraba has four points in his last five games.

Set-up Streak... Rookie Brandon Anselmini continues to be a play-maker on the blue line for Idaho, with six assists in his last six games and a three-game points streak. Anselmini's assist on Travis Ewanyk's power play goal Wednesday gave him six power play points for the season, which leads all rookies and is tied for first among all skaters.

Make It Stick... The Steelheads pulled to within a goal on three different occasions Wednesday, but could not silence the Adirondack response. The Thunder scored goals 1:46 and 1:37 after Idaho tallies, and Alex Wall scored just 41 seconds into the third period to give the Thunder a two-goal lead that the Steelheads could not close.

Watching Ward... The Steelheads will want to keep a closer eye on Brian Ward, who scored two goals on Wednesday and now has seven on the season to lead all rookies. Ward had a three-point night, his first as a pro, and a plus-four rating. He was bested by perhaps only Matt Bailey, who put up four points with the game's first goal Wednesday and three assists. Bailey has three goals and nine points, registering at least one point in all six games he has played for the Thunder this season. He was called up by AHL Stockton Friday morning.

Military Appreciation Night... The Steelheads will wear custom made Military Appreciation Jerseys on Friday an Saturday night, available for purchase via silent auction taking place on the arena concourse during the games. All proceeds from the St. Luke's Military Jersey Auction will be donated to benefit The Speedy Foundation and their creation and launch of Mental Health First Aid, training specific for military members, veterans, and their families.
