Adirondack Thunder News Release

WHO: Adirondack Thunder (7-1-1-1) @ Idaho Steelheads (5-5-1-0)

WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME

WHEN: Friday, November 11, 2016 @ 9:10 PM

WHERE: Century Link Arena - Boise, Idaho

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight is the second of three meetings between Adirondack and Idaho and the fourth of eight games for the Thunder on their current road swing. The Thunder took Game 1 by a 6-3 final on Wednesday evening in the first ever matchup between the two teams.

INTO THE ENDZONE: The Thunder netted six goals in Wednesday's victory, tying a franchise record that was previously set on 12/26/15 against Manchester and tied on 3/17/16 in Orlando. The Thunder's 11 assists and 17 points were franchise records, breaking marks of 16 set in both previously mentioned games in the 2015-16 season.

GORDIE: Thunder forward Phil Lane led the team offensively with a goal and two assists in Wednesday's win over Idaho. In addition, Lane collected the first "Gordie Howe Hat Trick" of the season, as he combined his goal and assist with a third period fight against Idaho's Brandon Anselmini. On the season, Lane is now tied with Ty Loney for the team lead with 10 points (6-4-10) and leads the team with a +7 rating.

MAKE LOVE, NOT WARD: Forward Brian Ward skated alongside Lane on Adirondack's top line Wednesday and the rookie forward scored two goals and picked up an assist, in addition to a team leading +4 rating. The assist for Ward was his first of the season, but the goals give him seven in ten games, tops on the Thunder roster and tied for fourth in the ECHL. Ward's goal total is also the highest amongst all first-year skaters league-wide.

BAIL-URE TO LAUNCH: Forward Matt Bailey collected a point in his sixth straight game in the win over Idaho, giving him the longest scoring streak of the season for the Thunder. Bailey, alongside Lane and Ward, collected three points (1-2-3) on Wednesday and was a +3 on the night. In six games with the Thunder this season, Bailey has now collected nine points (3-6-9) and leads the team with a 1.50 points-per-game average.

KANZIG-ZAG: The Thunder got reinforcements prior to Wednesday's game as defenseman Keegan Kanzig was reassigned to the team from the AHL's Stockton Heat. Kanzig has now appeared in four ECHL games with the Thunder this season and finished with a +2 rating in the win over Idaho. The 6-6 blueliner is currently in his first full professional season.

STILL HEAD OF THE CLASS: Adirondack still leads the league in shots allowed per game (20.70) in the young ECHL season, despite 29 shots against on Wednesday. The Thunder have allowed less than 20 shots in five of ten games this season, bolstered by just eight shots allowed in a win over Elmira on 10/29, which tied an ECHL record, and 11 shots allowed on Sunday in Manchester, which was a franchise low for shots against in a road game.
