Last Game

Peter Leblanc scored the deciding shootout goal as the Cincinnati Cyclones outlasted the host Mallards to earn a 3-2 shootout victory Sunday after Alex Petan tied the game for the Mallards with three minutes and 12 seconds left in regulation. Justin Kovacs scored the first Mallard goal and assisted on Petan's.

Roll

The Mallards have suffered just one regulation loss in their last seven games (5-1-1).

Central

The Mallards and Kalamazoo Wings are tied for fourth place in the highly competitive Central Division with 11 points apiece. The Mallards will play their next three games against division opponents, including this weekend's games against the second-place Walleye (16 points) and the Wings.

Shootout

The Mallards on Sunday went to overtime and then the shootout for the first time this season. The Mallards fell to the Cyclones after going 2-2 in the shootout last season.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards have gone unbeaten in regulation (2-0-1) in three home games since dropping their season opener on home ice to Fort Wayne on October 14.

Red Light District

The Mallards rank seventh in the ECHL in goals allowed (2.6 per game) after giving up two non-shootout goals or fewer in six of their last seven games. The Mallards rank twenty-second in goals scored (2.4 per game). Kalamazoo is the only club to have averaged fewer goals per game than the Mallards and still posted a winning record.

Rubber

The Mallards established a team season low for shots allowed in one period by giving up just two in the third Sunday against the Cyclones. The Mallards rank fourth in the ECHL in shots allowed (27.6 per game).

First Strike Capability

The Mallards have scored the first goal in each of their five wins.

Petan (5-4-9) scored three goals and added an assist in two games in 24 hours over the weekend. Petan scored the late tying goal Sunday against Cincinnati after scoring twice and adding an assist in last Saturday's 4-1 road win over the Indy Fuel. Petan now leads the Mallards in goal-scoring.

Leader of the Pack

Kovacs (4-8-12) has recorded points in eight of the Mallards' nine games. Kovacs remains the Mallards' top point scorer after scoring and adding an assist Sunday against the Cyclones.

Triple Threat

The line of Petan, Kovacs and Sam Warning (4-6-10) has produced the majority (13) of the Mallards' 22 goals.

Between the Pipes

The Mallards today signed goaltender Kent Patterson, who started the season with the Rapid City Rush. Adam Vay made 23 saves in Sunday's shootout loss to Cincinnati before being reassigned to the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild Monday. C.J. Motte has won three straight games and has given up just four goals during that winning streak. He now ranks fifth in the ECHL in save percentage (.939) and sixth in goals against average (1.85).

Power Play

The Mallards Sunday scored two power play goals in a game (on six opportunities) for the second time this season and now rank eighth in the ECHL on the man advantage (22.2 percent).

Penalty Kill

The Mallards Sunday survived all four Cincinnati power plays- including nine minutes on the penalty kill in the second period alone- after surrendering three power play goals (on nine disadvantages) in their prior two games. The Mallards rank seventeenth in the league in penalty killing (82.4 percent).

Head to Head

Tonight brings the second ever meeting between the Mallards and Walleye and Toledo's first visit to the iWireless Center. The Walleye won the only game between the two clubs last season 3-2 in overtime on January 31. The Mallards will play the Walleye only one more time this season after tonight. The Mallards will travel to the Huntington Center on December 3.

The Mallards today signed goaltender Kent Patterson...The Mallards today released emergency backup goaltender Jake Reed, who was signed Tuesday...Goaltender Adam Vay was reassigned by Minnesota (NHL) from the Mallards to Iowa (AHL) Monday...Forward Connor Brown was placed on the Mallards' suspended list Monday...Forward Michael Parks has missed the Mallards' last three games (lower body injury)...Forward Jack Nevins has missed the Mallards' last seven games (lower body injury).
