Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets and AHL's Manitoba Moose, were assigned goaltender Colin Stevens from the NHL's Florida Panthers on Friday. The Oilers also signed forward Danick Gauthier and added him to the active roster.
In separate transactions, Manitoba signed Oilers forwards Dan DeSalvo and Kale Kessy to AHL tryout agreements, as announced by the Moose on Thursday. DeSalvo had 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) in 12 games with the Oilers, including the overtime goal in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Fort Wayne. Kessy recorded 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) in 7 games for Tulsa.
Stevens, 23, who signed with the Panthers in 2015 after winning the National Championship with Union College as a senior, comes to Tulsa from the Manchester Monarchs, where he was 2-2-1, with a 3.32 goals-against average and .888 save percentage in five appearances. The Niskayuna, NY native went 15-9-2 with a 2.77 GAA and .908 save percentage in 28 games for the Monarchs as a rookie in 2015-16.
Gauthier, 25, tallied one assist in seven games for the Norfolk Admirals this year. The fifth-year pro from Waterloo, Quebec has 129 points (52 goals, 77 assists) in 183 ECHL games split between the Florida Everblades, Wichita Thunder, Rapid City Rush and Admirals. He appeared in 60 AHL games for the Syracuse Crunch after signing his first pro deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2012 after winning Canada's Memorial Cup with the St. John's Sea Dogs in the QMJHL.
The Oilers face-off against the Wichita Thunder at 7:05pm tonight at Intrust Bank Arena. It's the second of 14 meetings between the two teams, who return to Tulsa Saturday for a rematch at 7:05pm at BOK Center.
