STOCKTON, Calif. - Idaho Steelheads (29-16-7, 65 points) defenseman Tyler Kindle spearheaded an early offensive Idaho attack with two goals and an assist, as the Stockton Thunder (8-31-9, 25 points) fell to the Steelheads 6-2 in front of 5,051 at Stockton Arena on Sunday night.

Idaho, who came into the game with the second-best power play unit in the ECHL, raced out of the gates with four first period goals, including three on the power play. Kindle began the scoring 1:42 in with a long rebound goal from the left circle, followed by a Marty Flichel one-timed marker from 30-feet out less than two minutes later.

Garett Bembridge drilled in a one-timer from the mid-slot at the 5:13 mark for a 3-0 Thunder deficit, followed by Kindle's up-ice rush goal with 8:43 gone.

Stockton tweaked the game's momentum in the second period, outshooting Idaho 9-8, yet fell behind 5-0 after Dan Hacker whacked in a second-chance rebound at 5:09, following an incredible split save from Thunder goaltender Jeff Weber on Hacker's original shot.

The Thunder got on the board in the third period when Nathan Martz netted a rebound goal at 3:25 in the after a missed one-timer from Lance Monych. Making up for the near-miss, Monych teamed up with Jason Metcalfe and Martz to score Stockton's second goal of the game at 17:26 on a highlight-reel up-ice rush. Idaho added a final goal with just 1:08 remaining in the game on Scott Burt's 40-foot blast to end the scoring.

Monych has been a force since joining the Thunder with four points, including three goals and an assist in his four games with the team. Martz logged his second consecutive two point game, and now has five points in his last four games with one goal and four assists over that span.
