ECHL Olympic update

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL is represented by 25 players and former Wheeling and current Team USA coach Peter Laviolette at the XX Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy.

Nine of the 11 teams have an ECHL player led by Latvia which has eight former ECHL players including current Stockton Thunder Maris Ziedins.

Here is a look at how some of the former ECHL players performed on Sunday:

Olaf Kolzig (Hampton Roads, 1990-92) made 23 saves for Germany in its 2-2 tie with Switzerland.

David Aebischer (Chesapeake and Wheeling, 1997-98) made 26 saves for Switzerland in its 2-2 with Germany.

Aigars Cipruss (Nashville, 1994-96) scored a goal, Armands Berzins (Louisiana, 2003-04 and Wheeling, 2004-05) had an assist and Arturs Irbe made 12 saves in Latvia's 9-2 loss to Russia.

Tomas Vokoun (Wheeling, 1995-96) made 15 saves in the Czech Republic's 4-1 win against Italy.

John Parco ((Hampton Roads, 1994-95 and 1999-2000) scored a goal and Tony Iob (Erie, 1992-93) had an assist in Italy's 4-1 loss to the Czech Republic.
