Thunder Blanked 4-0 in Colorado
December 13, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release
Loveland, CO - The second period has not been kind to the Thunder (6-17-0-7) this week and Colorado (11-12-0-0) continued that trend in a 4-0 win at the Budweiser Events Center on Saturday night. The Eagles scored three goals in the second and held Wichita in check the rest of the way to take the season-series lead, 3-2-0-0.
Colorado enjoyed four power plays in the first 20 minutes and appeared to break the scoreless tie with eight minutes remaining. Ludwig Karlsson came across the slot and fired a shot that popped right back out of the zone. Fans started launching teddy bears
on the ice, but the goal was disallowed. At 15:49, Adrian Veideman found the back of the net with a shot from the deep slot and this time, the teddy bears were allowed to be thrown onto the ice.
In the second, the Eagles found the net three times and took a 4-0 cushion into the third. Veideman recorded his second on the night at 5:13 to increase the lead to 2-0. Jake Marto found the twine at 13:38 that made it 3-0. Less than two minutes later, Joe Zarbo found a loose puck in the slot and recorded his seventh of the season and a 4-0 advantage.
Wichita was unable to get much going in the third period. Both teams had six shots on net while the Eagles had two power plays in the frame.
Grant Rollheiser takes the loss, stopping 30 of 34 shots while Eric Levine claims his first shutout of the season, stopping all 20 shots he faced.
Wichita was 0-for-2 on the power play. Colorado went 1-for-7 on the man advantage.
The Thunder finishes their road trip with a pair of games in Tulsa against the Oilers starting on Friday, December 18th at 7:05 p.m.
