Grizzlies Sweep Aces Again, Win 4-2 Saturday

December 13, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UT - Matt Berry scored two goals, Roberts Lipsbergs bagged the game-winner on the power play in the third period, and the Utah Grizzlies downed the Alaska Aces 4-2 Saturday night at the Maverik Center.

The win gives Utah it's second three-game sweep of Alaska this season. The Grizzlies won three straight games in Anchorage over the Aces in early November. Utah beat Alaska at home Wednesday 5-0 and Friday 3-2.

Saturday, it was the Grizzlies that jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Barry Almeida and Berry. Stephen Perfetto banged in a rebound of a Justin Breton shot late in the period for Alaska and it was a 2-1 game after one.

A single tally by the Aces' Tim Coffman at 14:46 tied the game at 2. Coffman's low shot from the high slot zipped by Grizzlies goaltender Taran Kozun and the period ended at 2-2.

In the third, a slashing penalty on Alaska's Tommaso Traversa led to a Roberts Lipsbergs tip of a Connor Hardowa blast that eluded Aces goaltender Troy Redmann for a power play goal, the eventual game winner. Berry added a shorthanded breakaway snipe later in the period for the final margin.

The Aces outshot Utah 35-31 for the game.

Kozun had 33 saves for his third consecutive win over the Aces. Redmann made 27 stops for Alaska.

The Aces return home to face Rapid City December 18, 19 and 20 at the Sullivan Arena.
