Beast Break All-Time Brampton Attendance Record in Overtime Loss to Admirals

BRAMPTON, ON - With 3,099 fans in attendance at the Powerade Centre this afternoon, the Beast have broken the all-time yearly average attendance record in a wild 6-5 overtime loss to the Norfolk Admirals on Sunday afternoon.
Nearly 1.5 million fans have entered the turnstiles at the Powerade Centre over the course of the 18-year history of high-end hockey in Brampton and Beast President and General Manager Cary Kaplan is excited that the Beast are the ones to record the highest average attendance in Brampton hockey history.
"We are very proud of this accomplishment and in particular, very proud of the quarter of a million Beast fans that have attended Beast games in the past two-plus seasons," Kaplan said.
"To break a record that has stood for a decade and to have the largest average attendance in 18 years is something we are very excited about. Our fans and the community have continued to rally around the Beast and we feel we have a promising chance to exceed 3,000 fans per game by season's end."
To date, the Beast's annual attendance average for the 2015-16 season reached 2,756, topping the Brampton Battalion's previous record of 2,734 set by the 2005-06 squad.
The Beast faithful in attendance on Sunday afternoon were treated to one of the most exciting hockey games to be played at the Powerade Centre this season.
Jeff Brown notched a pair of goals and Jeremie Blain, Reggie Traccitto and Chris Auger all lit the lamp for Brampton, while Norfolk's Tommy Mele and Alexis Loiseau each responded with a pair of their own. Scott Allen and Michael Pelech added singles to help Norfolk to the victory.
Beast goaltender Andy Iles made 30 saves between the pipes, while Philippe Cadorette and Adam Courchaine split goaltending duties for the Admirals and combined to make 30 saves to earn the win.
The loss, however, won't overshadow one of the biggest milestones ever reached in Brampton hockey history.
Even with many games remaining in the 2015-16 Beast season, attendance projections for the remainder of the season will see the Beast eclipsing that mark by a significant margin.
In the 15-year history of the Battalion, no iteration of the club averaged more than 2,734 fans per game, which the Beast have broken in less than three seasons of existence between the Central Hockey League (CHL) and the ECHL.
The Beast hope to add to their record-setting attendance number this Thursday, December 17 as they face their division rivals, the Toledo Walleye at 7:15 PM.
