Thunder Announces Schedule for 2013 Western Conference Quarterfinal Series vs. Las Vegas

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, has earned the #4 seed in the Western Conference and will open the 2013 Kelly Cup Playoffs against the #5 seed Las Vegas Wranglers in a best-of-seven series, beginning with Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinal round on Friday, Apr. 5 at Stockton Arena beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Ticket strip packages for the 2013 Thunder playoffs are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Stockton Thunder at 209-373-1500. Priority seating is offered along with free 2013 playoff tickets by purchasing a new 2013-14 Thunder Season Ticket Package. Current Thunder Season Ticket Holders receive free tickets to the first two rounds of the Kelly Cup Playoffs in their ticket package.
Entering its seventh straight postseason appearance, the Thunder finished 4-1-3 this season against the Wranglers (entering the playoffs as the defending Western Conference champion) and won three of five meetings at Stockton Arena. The two Pacific Division rivals have met twice in the Kelly Cup Playoffs and last squared off in a second round series that went seven games in 2009 (won by Las Vegas, 4-3).
It will also be the first lifetime postseason meeting between Thunder head coach Matt Thomas and Las Vegas counterpart Ryan Mougenel, who served Stockton and Fresno as an assistant coach under Thomas from 2005-09. Mougenel was also a forward for Atlantic City in 2002-03 when Thomas helped guide the team to a Kelly Cup championship as an assistant coach.
