5th Annual "Fed by the Gladiators" a Success
March 28, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The playoff-bound Gladiators hosted their fifth annual "Fed by the Gladiators" charity fundraising dinner on Tuesday, March 26th at Northwood Country Club in Lawrenceville. Attended by wide range of avid team supporters, the unique event raised over $5,500 for the Gladiators Foundation for Kids. The Gladiators Foundation for Kids Fund is managed by the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, a 501-C-3 charitable organization based in Duluth, GA.
Throughout the night, the players performed as waiters for the attending fans, donning commemorative t-shirts which were auctioned off to the highest bidder following the conclusion of the meal. Each high bidder received the tee straight off of the player's back, as well as an autograph on the spot - often accompanied by an appreciative hug or hand-shake. Justin Bowers and team captain Andy Brandt received the top two bids, with Yuri Bouharevich and new addition Domenic Monardo tied for third.
With one game remaining in the 2012-13 regular season, over $100,000 in goods and services have been generated as a result of Gladiators charitable initiatives for local charities in North Georgia and Metro Atlanta. Some of the major contributions have included the donation of over 2,000 teddy bears from the 10th Annual Teddy Bear Toss on January 26th. In addition, the Gladiators special limited-edition 10th Anniversary Jersey Auction brought in over $34,000 alone for the Gladiators Foundation for Kids.
The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
