San Francisco Bulls News Release

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls (24-36-2-7) earned a point, but were defeated 1-0 in overtime by the visiting Idaho Steelheads (44-19-1-6). Travis Fullerton, in his pro debut, stopped 25 shots to keep the opposition to no goals in regulation for the first time in team history.

Both teams had good looks on net, but neither was able to find the back of the net. In his first game since returning from the AHL's Manchester Monarchs, Kris Belan picked up right where he left off, providing physical play, earning himself two minutes for roughing with five minutes left in the first. In his first professional hockey game, Fullerton showed no sign of jitters in net for the Bulls, fitting right in and making seven saves. After 20 minutes, the score was tied at zero with shots favoring the Steelheads, 7-6.

Both teams came out hot in the second period, playing physical and finishing their checks. The physicality led to chances on both ends, but again both netminders stood strong. Getting in the playoff style of play, the second period was very defensive-minded. San Francisco put a lot of pressure on Idaho's Tyler Beskorowany in the final minute of the second period, posting shot after shot, but the Steelheads goalie could not be breached. Through 40 minutes, the Steelheads continued to lead the shots 18-16.

The Bulls put the pressure on right from the start in the third, keeping up the intensity and physical play. Halfway through the third, the teams were still locked in a stalemate. Beskorowany and Fullerton proved impenetrable, and neither team was able to find the back of the net. Ian Schultz got the crowd on their feet, receiving a two minute roughing penalty, and throwing up Bull horns on his way to the penalty box. With 2:22 left in the third, the Bulls went on their fifth power play of the game. After a few good chances, the Bulls were not able to break through, and the game went to overtime.

Less than a minute into the overtime period, Idaho's Tyler Gron solved Fullerton for the game-winning goal. The Bulls out-shot the Steelheads 27-26.
