San Francisco Bulls News Release

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls Professional Hockey Team, proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced today they have raised over $10,000 in the month of March for a variety of worthy causes. The Bulls hosted Always Dream Foundation Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Night and LGBTQ to help support local organizations that positively affect the community in which we live.

The Bulls were excited to host Kristi Yamaguchi and Bret Hedican at their game on Sunday, March 17. A portion of the proceeds from the night's events went towards the Always Dream Foundation, whose mission it is to support organizations that have a positive influence on children. A total of $3,000 went to the Always Dream Foundation to help the Always Reading Early Childhood Literacy program.

Last weekend, the Bulls hosted Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Friday. A total of $1,737 was raised for Seton Medical Center Foundation to help fight and raise awareness about breast cancer. Part of the donation included $500 from San Mateo Credit Union.

"We are so grateful to the SF Bulls team and fans for raising awareness in of breast cancer prevention and education," said Tina Ahn, Seton Medical Center Foundation VP of Development. "The team's support with San Mateo Credit Union provides us with needed funding to continue our work."

Last Saturday, proceeds from ticket sales and a game-worn jersey auction contributed $4,170 to the You Can Play project and $2,039 to SF Pride. The You Can Play project was formed a year ago to help end homophobia in sports. SF Pride is dedicated to education, to the commemoration of LGBT heritage and to the celebration of LGBT culture and liberation.

"The overwhelming support of the Bulls and their fans for You Can Play night is really touching," Patrick Burke, founder of You Can Play. "The money raised is important, and we will ensure it goes directly to helping LGBT athletes, coaches, and fans in the sports world. But the sentiment expressed is equally important- that this is an organization committed to the idea of equality. We look forward to an ongoing relationship with the Bulls and the greater San Francisco sports community."

All season long the Bulls have helped raise money and donated tickets to those in need throughout the Bay Area. You can check out what the Bulls have been up to in the community by clicking here.
