
Road Warriors Announce Roster Moves

Greenville, SC: Today the Road Warriors announced six separate transactions. Defenseman Jyri Neimi has been reassigned by the New York Rangers from the Connecticut Whale. Defenseman Brendan Jamison signed an amateur tryout. Forward Luke Greiner was released from his amateur tryout and defenseman Derek Matheson was released. Defenseman Sebastien Piche was removed from the 21-day IR and Defenseman Bretton Stamler was placed on the 21-day IR.
Niemi, 22, rejoins the Road Warriors after his call-up on February 7th. During his two stints with the Whale he amassed one goal and one assist in 11 games. The New York Islanders' 2008 third round draft pick played in 14 games with the Road Warriors this year while scoring one goal, tallying five assists and a +14 rating. Niemi hails from Hameenkyro, Finland.
Jamison, 24, finished his fourth year at Robert Morris University collecting one goal and adding 11 assists in 38 games played. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native improved his point production in each year at Robert Morris University.
Piche, 25, will return to the lineup for the first time since December 22nd. He was placed on the 21-day IR on December 26th. The fourth-year pro signed an American Hockey League contract with the Whale on August 13 but missed the Whale's first seven games of the season due to injury. The La Sarre, Québec native was assigned to the Road Warriors on November 4th. In 30 games with the Road Warriors, he has produced 10 assists and 30 penalty minutes.
The Road Warriors take on the South Carolina Stingrays tonight and tomorrow at 7 p.m. Throwback Thursday returns tonight featuring $2 beers, fountain drinks, pretzels and hot dogs! Fans who present their BI-LO Bonuscard two hours prior to the game will receive a buy one, get one free discount! In addition, students who present their student ID at the box office will receive $5 tickets in the Green Level.
The Road Warriors are paying tribute to their great fans! Friday is Fan Appreciation Night. All Red and Blue Level tickets are only $10. The first 1200 fans at the game will receive a free New York Rangers hat courtesy of the Road Warriors' NHL affiliate. One Lucky fan will shoot for a chance to win a BMW 328i presented by Century BMW. After the game, the Road Warriors Ranger Themed Alternate Jerseys will be auctioned off.
