Three-Run Sixth Sends Tribe to 5-2 Win in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY. - With the game tied, the Indianapolis Indians plated three runs in the sixth inning to take the lead for good as the Tribe toppled the Louisville Bats on Tuesday night, 5-2. All but one of Indy's starting position players recorded at least one hit in the win.

Casey Sadler (1-2) was strong on the mound and even helped his own cause at the plate. With Wyatt Mathisen at third base and nobody out in the third, Sadler laid down a bunt that scored Mathisen for the first run of the game.

Dilson Herrera tied the game for Louisville (10-18) when he belted a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth.

Indianapolis (15-14) answered quickly with a big sixth. Two were out with Kevin Kramer at second base when Jacob Stallings lined a hit to right-center field to put the Tribe back in front. Erich Weiss then tripled into the corner in right field to score Stallings, and Mathisen capped the rally with an infield hit to plate Weiss.

After the Bats brought a run back in the sixth, Jordan Luplow pushed the lead back to three runs in the seventh. His double into deep left-center field scored Kramer all the way from first base. That made it 5-2 in favor of Indy, and neither team would score after.

Sadler's only blemish of the night was Herrera's homer in the fifth. He struck out a season-high eight batters and only issued one walk to earn the win. Tanner Anderson extended his scoreless streak to 14 and one-third innings, and Johnny Hellweg closed down his fifth save of the campaign.

Louisville starter Jose Lopez (0-3) took the loss after he allowed three runs and exited in the sixth inning.

The two teams will now square off in a morning contest in Louisville on Wednesday, first pitch is set for 11 a.m. The team returns to Victory Field for a weekend series against Columbus on Friday.
