LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (10-18) fell to the Indianapolis Indians (15-14), 5-2 at Louisville Slugger Field on Tuesday night evening the four-game home series.

Louisville right-handed starter Jose Lopez recorded the loss, but pitched relatively smooth and consistent. Lopez tossed 5.2 innings and allowed only one run in the first five innings, but surrendered his other two runs in his final 0.2 innings of work. He gave up five hits, three total runs, walked two and struck out five with 60 strikes on 92 pitches.

The Indians struck first in the third inning on a sacrifice bunt to take an early lead. After Louisville tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, Indianapolis secured the game in the next half-inning as a fielding error, combined with a RBI triple and a single, made it 4-1 going into the seventh. They added their final run off a double in the seventh.

Second baseman Dilson Herrera lifted spirits for Louisville in the fifth inning when he smacked a 379-foot homer into left field to even the game. The awakened offense resumed in the sixth as first baseman Brandon Dixon continued his hot-streak with another RBI single to score center fielder Mason Williams. Back at the plate in the ninth, he collected his team-leading ninth double, but it was not enough to steal the game.

The Bats are back in action at Louisville Slugger Field tomorrow morning for the third game of the series. Louisville southpaw Cody Reed (0-0, 2.25 ERA) will face off against Indians right-hander Tyler Eppler (3-1, 2.64 ERA). First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m.
