Today's Game

This evening, the Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings in game two of a three-game series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Herd is had their four game winning streak snapped on Monday after taking four straight from Syracuse. Buffalo's seven-game homestand will conclude on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of the series with Rochester. The team will then head to the road for four games at Lehigh Valley, followed by a three-game series at Pawtucket.

Last Game: ROC 7, BUF 3

The Bisons were defeated for the first time after scoring first this season. OF Dwight Smith Jr. went 2-4 with a run scored and RBI in the loss, while RHP Sam Gaviglio worked six scoreless innings in the no decision. Red Wings C Wynston Sawyer's grand slam led a five-run seventh inning, to help Rochester to the victory.

Today's Starter: RHP Joe Biagini

RHP Joe Biagini is making his fourth start for the Bisons and is still in search of his first victory in 2018. Biagini was the Herd's Opening Day starter, with his last Triple-A start coming against Pawtucket in April 28. The 27 year-old has made two starts for the Blue Jays this season, taking the loss in Game 2 of a doubleheader at Cleveland on May 3.

Rochester (0-1)

The Bisons and Red Wings are squaring off for the first time this season due to inclement weather conditions forcing them to postpone their earlier matchups. The teams will meet a total of 17 games this season, with Buffalo heading to Frontier Field May 25th-28th for a 6 game series.

Tim Lopes

INF Tim Lopes continues to lead the International League in batting with a .403 average, 30 points better than Syracuse's Alejandro De Aza. Lopes went 1-3 in Sunday's win, and has now hit in all but two of his 19 starts this season. With his seven walks, Lopes is now tied with De Aza for the IL's top on base percentage at .456.

Dwight Smith Jr.

OF Dwight Smith Jr. has hit safely in all three games since being optioned from Toronto. The second year Bison outfielder is riding an overall four-game hitting streak with the team, going 7-15 (.467) over that stretch. He also added to his team best RBI total, collecting his 14th of the year yesterday.

Transactions

INF Gift Ngoepe was outrighted to the Bisons and joined the team today. Ngoepe was recalled by Toronto on 4/30 before being optioned on 5/3 and then designated for assignment.

Bisons Bits

The Bisons are now 10-1 when scoring first...INF/OF Darnell Sweeney extended his hitting streak to five games with a base hit in the eighth inning on Monday...RHP Sam Gaviglio recorded a quality start, his second of the season and the third straight by a Buffalo starter...Herd starters have allowed just 3R/2ER during this homestand.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (19-16) had the day off on Monday after finishing a stretch of 14 games in 15 days that included a doubleheader in Cleveland last Thursday. RHP Marcus Stroman starts in the series opener against the Seattle Mariners at Rogers Centre tonight (7:07 p.m.). The Blue Jays host Seattle for three games, then welcome the Boston Red Sox before closing out the homestand.
