Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today that three players have returned to the team from AHL training camps and another two have been assigned to the team from the IceCaps. The three players returning to the team are forwards Adam Chorneyko, Jack Combs and Chad Costello. The pair of players being assigned to the team through its affiliation are forward Michael Forney & defenseman Jake Marto.

Chorneyko re-joins to the team after a standout rookie season with the club last year. The 23-year old forward was named to the CHL's All-Rookie Team and led all playoff participants in points during the Eagles' run to the CHL Finals.

Combs is also coming off a standout season in the CHL in which he recorded 82 points (40-42-82) and tied for second overall in the league in goals. In 2009-10, the forward played 60 games in the ECHL, registering 43 points (24-19-43).

Costello joins the Eagles after spending a second preseason camp with the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters, a team with which he spent eight games last year after dominating the CHL. The Johnston, IA native recorded 84 points (34-50-84) in just 54 games last season with the Tulsa Oilers, finishing the season as the CHL's 9th-leading scorer despite the limited number of games in the league.

Forney, a 3rd Round pick (#80 overall) of the Florida Panthers in 2006, has spent most of the past two seasons with the Gwinnett Gladiators, plus a total of 12 games with the AHL's Chicago Wolves as part of two separate call-ups. Last season, the forward led the Gladiators in goals (21), assists (45) and points (66), played in the ECHL All-Star Game and ranked 13th overall in the league in points and 9th overall in assists.

Marto is a rookie defenseman coming off a stellar career at collegiate power University of North Dakota. In four seasons with the Fighting Sioux, the North Dakota native recorded 62 points (21-41-62) from the blue line. In that time, he was named to the All-Academic Team three times and helped his team claim the WCHA championship in 2009-10.

Several of the players listed above will be playing in tonight's preseason game at the Budweiser Events Center. It will be the first ECHL game at the BEC and the Eagles' final game of the preseason. The 2011-12 ECHL regular season begins on Friday, Oct. 14, with the Eagles' home-opener taking place on Friday, Oct. 21. A complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com.
