
Jackals Announce Roster Moves

Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals announced prior to their preseason game in Trenton on Friday that they have added the following five players to their training camp roster who recently attended camp with their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators:
F Jack Downing
F Mike Radja
F Mike Ratchuk
D Josh Godfrey
G Corey Milan
Additionally, the Jackals have released the following six players from their training camp roster:
F Alec Kirschner
F Matt Moffat
D Paul Arnott
D Vinny Geonnetti
D Clay Goodall
G Michael DiLorenzo
Downing was assigned to the Jackals by the B-Sens. The, 6'3", 220-pound rookie spent the last four seasons at the University of Vermont (NCAA, D-I), leading the Catamounts with 13 goals in his senior campaign of 2010-2011. In his collegiate career, Downing combined 35 goals and 28 assists for 63 points. The New Canaan, Ct. native notched over 10 points in each of his four seasons at Vermont.
Godfrey comes to the Jackals also on assignment from Binghamton after spending the majority of his first three seasons in the Washington Capitals farm system with the South Carolina Stingrays. Last season, Godfrey set an ECHL Skills Competition record with a 102.7 mph shot at the 19th Annual ECHL All-Star Classic in January of 2011. Godfrey, from Collingwood, Ontario, tied for the ECHL lead last season among defensemen with 15 goals while adding 12 assists for 27 points. Godfrey scored 10 goals and contributed 31 assists for 41 points in his first two seasons with South Carolina from 2008-2010 while helping the Stingrays win the Kelly Cup in his rookie year. He has seven career assists in the AHL.
A second-round pick (34th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by Washington, Godfrey helped the Canada Under-20 National Team win a gold medal at the IIHF World Under-20 Championship in the 2007-2008 season, leading tournament blue-liners with five assists. He posted 49 goals and 84 assists for 133 points in four seasons in the OHL with Sault Ste. Marie and Guelph, pacing the league's defensemen with 24 goals in 2006-2007.
Milan joins the Jackals under a tryout agreement after skating the last four seasons for Union College (NCAA, D-I). The Great Barrington, Mass. product notched a career record 35-29-12, a save percentage of .908, and a goals-against average of 2.46. Milan was named the 2006-2007 BCHL Goaltender of the Year, going 32-13-2 with a .911 save percentage and a 2.56 goals-against average.
Radja and Ratchuk signed standard player contracts with Elmira in the offseason.
